I completed the questionnaire but haven’t been able to get tickets to an event. What gives?

A couple of things…first, there’s been a lot of anticipation for these events and we expected this high demand. We are currently hosting one event per month but plan on expanding, which means more dates for you! Second, we are grouping people by sexual orientation, dating preferences, and age so you may not be eligible for every event (ex: A straight 35yo woman will not be notified of or invited to a 40-50yo queer event). We take your time and investment seriously; these events are optimized to set you up for success! We recommend you stay subscribed to emails in order to let us know when you’re interested in an upcoming event.

You collected a lot of information in that questionnaire. Was all that really necessary? I’m open to meeting people who are different from me and am afraid I’m going to be pigeonholed lobster rolled by this process.

We know it’s a lot and appreciate your candor. The more information we have, the better we can serve you, especially when it comes to what matters to you the most. We are determined not to group people too rigidly - sometimes opposites do attract! The only information that will be shared is your contact info (if you opt to do so) when you match with someone.

I’ve never attended an event like this. What can I expect?

Please see event description for details as event types will vary. We are planning on hosting speed-dating events, structured mixers, symposiums, and activity-based meetups. Let’s tackle the main two (pun intended):

Speed-dating: This one gets a bad rap but we think that’s due to poor design. Our events are designed to be low key and friendly. Participants will meet for 6 minute dates and then rotate throughout the venue. There will be a break halfway through the event to get a drink or to use the facilities, as well as some time allotted at the end of the event to mingle if you’d like to. After the event, you will be notified if you’ve matched with someone (based on dating cards that will be filled out during the event).

Meetups: Relationship experts swear by activity-based dating. And there’s so much room for activities! These events will be less structured and centered around an activity (ex: cooking demo, foraging, museum visits…). Participants will be given the opportunity to talk to everyone at the event, through icebreaker-type prompts or team-building exercises.

I can’t make tonight’s event. Can I get a refund?

No refunds within 24hrs. When you’re a no-show, you hurt the success of our events. People paid to meet you! Please plan accordingly so that you can avoid missing an event or give us enough advance notice so that we can fill your spot with another Bug. No exceptions.
